What We Do

Big Horn County Search & Rescue provides emergency search, rescue, recovery, and wilderness medical support throughout more than 3,100 square miles of diverse terrain, including the Big Horn Mountains. Our all-volunteer team is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist people who are lost, injured, stranded, or in need of specialized rescue. We work alongside the Big Horn County Sheriff's Office and partner with local, state, and federal agencies to respond wherever we're needed.

Our team is trained in a wide range of search and rescue disciplines, including wilderness search operations, technical rope rescue, swiftwater rescue, winter and avalanche response, backcountry medical care, ATV and snowmobile operations, communications, and incident management. Whether we're helping a stranded family, searching for a missing person, rescuing an injured outdoor enthusiast, or supporting another agency during a large-scale emergency, our focus is always the same: responding safely and professionally so we can bring people home.
